# OpenFree categories

Categories organize project discovery. OpenFree uses two levels: Parent Categories group related Child Categories; Child Categories classify Listings. Open the live categories page to see the current taxonomy, then follow a category to its projects. Tags describe additional capabilities and ecosystems.

Do not invent category slugs or assume a particular project belongs to a category without inspecting the current site.
