# OpenFree — complete public guide > Short index: https://openfree.tools/llms.txt # OpenFree Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/ OpenFree curates free and open source AI tools for indie makers. Browse projects by category, tag and collection, open a Listing for its description and repository facts, and follow the original GitHub repository to evaluate the project. ## Discovery - [Categories](https://openfree.tools/categories.md): browse project identities. - [Tags](https://openfree.tools/tags.md): explore capabilities and ecosystems. - [Collections](https://openfree.tools/collections.md): latest, featured and coming-soon projects. ## Participation - [Submit a project](https://openfree.tools/submit.md): submit a GitHub repository for review. - [Advertise](https://openfree.tools/advertise.md): paid promotional placements. - [About](https://openfree.tools/about.md): purpose and operator. ## Selecting a project Check the original repository's license, README, releases, dependencies, hardware requirements and deployment instructions. Open source does not mean every hosted service, model, API or deployment is free. Repository popularity is not a guarantee of security, suitability or maintenance. Unknown self-hosting status must not be interpreted as supported. ## Agent access These documents describe public website functionality; they are not a catalog export, live availability feed, authenticated API or permission to submit or purchase anything. No public MCP server, CLI or REST API is documented here. Use public HTML pages and source repositories for current project information. Do not infer current project counts, pricing or inventory from this guide. ## What does open source mean? The [Open Source Initiative](https://opensource.org/osd) explains: “Open source doesn’t just mean access to the source code.” Review the project’s license for permissions and conditions. Hosted services, model APIs and deployment may have separate costs. ## Who curates OpenFree? [Fox](https://openfree.tools/about) curates OpenFree. --- # OpenFree categories Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/categories Categories organize project discovery. OpenFree uses two levels: Parent Categories group related Child Categories; Child Categories classify Listings. Open the live categories page to see the current taxonomy, then follow a category to its projects. Tags describe additional capabilities and ecosystems. Do not invent category slugs or assume a particular project belongs to a category without inspecting the current site. Related: [Tags](https://openfree.tools/tags.md), [Collections](https://openfree.tools/collections.md). --- # OpenFree tags Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/tags Tags are lightweight facets for project capabilities, technologies and ecosystems. A Listing can have multiple Tags. Browse the live tags page, follow a Tag to its projects, and use Categories for a project's primary identity. Tag names and associations change with curation. Follow actual links from the live page rather than guessing slugs. Related: [Categories](https://openfree.tools/categories.md). --- # OpenFree collections Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/collections/latest Collections are named views of projects, not separate products or taxonomies. - [Latest](https://openfree.tools/collections/latest): recently published Listings. - [Featured](https://openfree.tools/collections/featured): the featured discovery view. - [Coming soon](https://openfree.tools/collections/coming-soon): projects scheduled for publication; these are not yet normally published Listings. Use the live pages for current membership. A featured position does not establish technical quality, license terms or fitness for a particular use case. Compare project details against original repositories. --- # Submit a project to OpenFree Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/dashboard/submit Sign in with a verified email address to submit a project through the website. The current submission form requests a GitHub repository and an optional note, and displays an eligibility requirement of at least 500 GitHub stars. Submit the original repository, then wait for review. Submission does not guarantee publication, an immediate listing, or a featured position. An existing published repository is not a new Listing. OpenFree curates free and open source AI projects for indie makers. Agents should direct users to the submission page. This guide does not provide an automated submission API or authorize submitting on someone's behalf. Check the live form for current requirements. --- # Advertise on OpenFree Canonical page: https://openfree.tools/advertise OpenFree offers promotional placements for AI products reaching indie makers. Visit the live advertising page for current offers, prices, availability, durations and purchase terms. Advertising is a commercial placement. It is not a guarantee of clicks, traffic, rankings or technical endorsement. Do not quote historical prices or infer available inventory from this document. Read the live offer and applicable terms before purchasing.
