Overview

NanoClaw is a secure, lightweight alternative to OpenClaw. It runs your personal AI agent in isolated Docker containers, with a small codebase designed to be understood and customized. It supports multiple messaging channels, scheduled tasks, and per-agent workspaces, with credentials secured via a gateway.

Key Features

  • Container isolation: every active session runs in its own Docker container.
  • Multi-channel messaging: supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, and more, installed on demand.
  • Flexible isolation: connect each channel to its own agent or share one agent across channels.
  • Scheduled tasks: recurring jobs with optional script gates.
  • Credential security: agents never hold raw API keys; outbound requests route through a credential gateway.
  • Skills over features: add channels and providers via skills, keeping your fork lean.

Use Cases

  • Personal AI assistant on messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Slack.
  • Scheduled briefings and recurring tasks, such as morning news summaries.
  • Customized agent for individual workflows, with per-agent group providers.

Getting Started

  • Clone the repository and run the install script: git clone https://github\.com/nanocoai/nanoclaw\.git nanoclaw-v2, cd nanoclaw-v2, bash nanoclaw.sh. The script installs dependencies, sets up Docker and a credential gateway, and pairs your first channel.

Deployment & Requirements

  • Requires macOS, Linux, or Windows via WSL2, Node.js 20+ (or 22+ per README), pnpm 10+, Docker Desktop or Engine, and a Claude or Codex credential. Claude Code is needed for customization and error recovery.

Before You Adopt

  • License: MIT. Review its terms before using, modifying, or distributing the project.
  • Users should review the codebase before granting access, though its small size makes review feasible.
  • Docker is the only supported container runtime.
