omp is a terminal coding agent that ships with the IDE wired in. It is an agentic harness built on a native Rust core, with tools tuned against real sessions, and it runs natively on macOS, Linux, and Windows without a WSL bridge. Originally built on Mario Zechner's Pi, omp adds code execution with tool-calling, LSP awareness, real debugger control, subagents, shared sessions, memory, and more. It is built by Stencil Labs.
Key Features
- Code execution with tool-calling: persistent Python and a Bun worker can call back into the agent's own tools over a loopback bridge.
- LSP wired into every write, so renames route through workspace/willRenameFiles and update re-exports, barrel files, and aliased imports.
- Real debugger support through DAP, attaching lldb, dlv, or debugpy for breakpoints, stepping, threads, stack, and variables.
- Time-traveling stream rules that abort a stream on a regex match, inject the rule as a system reminder, and retry from the same point.
- First-class subagents: task fans out into isolated worktrees and returns schema-validated typed results.
- Hashline editing by content hash, plus 60+ providers, 31 built-in tools, 14 LSP ops, 28 DAP ops, and roughly 80k lines of Rust core.
Use Cases
- Driving a full coding session from the terminal, including edits, reads, searches, and shell work.
- Debugging native, Go, or Python processes from the agent instead of adding print statements.
- Fanning a job out across parallel subagents and reading back structured, schema-validated results.
- Reviewing branches, single commits, or uncommitted work with P0-P3 priorities and a ship verdict.
Getting Started
- macOS and Linux: curl -fsSL https://omp\.sh/install | sh
- Homebrew: brew install can1357/tap/omp
- Bun (recommended): bun install -g @oh-my-pi/pi-coding-agent
- Windows (PowerShell): irm https://omp\.sh/install\.ps1 | iex
- Nix: nix run github:can1357/oh-my-pi, or nix profile install github:can1357/oh-my-pi
Deployment & Requirements
- Supported platforms are macOS, Linux, and Windows.
- Bun version 1.3.14 or newer.
- On Alpine or musl, install libstdc++ and libgcc first: apk add libstdc++ libgcc
Before You Adopt
- License: MIT. Review its terms before using, modifying, or distributing the project.
- The prebuilt musl binary links libstdc++ and libgcc dynamically, which stock Alpine does not ship, so those packages must be installed first.
- Several tools, including github, security_scan, generate_image, tts, checkpoint, rewind, and the memory tools, are setting-gated and off by default.
