Skills is a collection of small, composable instructions for coding agents, designed to encode senior-engineering habits. The skills cover an idea-to-ship flow across alignment, specs, tickets, implementation, review, debugging, architecture improvement, and productivity workflows, and they work with agents including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, and Amp.
Key Features
- A set of 27 MIT-licensed skills organized into getting started, main flow, shaping, engineering, productivity, and reference groups.
- Slash-command workflows for alignment, specs, tickets, implementation, code review, retro, debugging, triage, and architecture improvement.
- Composable skills whose outputs feed the next step in the workflow.
- Works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Amp, and other coding agents.
- The installer writes editable skill files into your project, while Claude Code can alternatively use a managed, read-only plugin.
Use Cases
- Aligning with a coding agent before starting a change by running a grilling session.
- Turning an agreed conversation into a written spec and splitting it into agent-sized tickets.
- Implementing a spec test-first and reviewing the resulting diff against standards.
- Surveying a codebase for refactoring opportunities or diagnosing hard bugs from a failing reproduction.
Getting Started
- Install the skills with npx skills@latest add mattpocock/skills, selecting the skills and agents you use.
- For Claude Code, install the complete set as a managed, read-only plugin with claude plugins install mattpocock-skills.
- Run /setup-matt-pocock-skills once per repo to configure the issue tracker, triage labels, and where docs are saved.
Before You Adopt
- License: MIT. Review its terms before using, modifying, or distributing the project.
- The installer route copies editable skill files into your project, so updates are manual.
- Choose either the plugin or the installer per agent because installing both duplicates every skill.
- The architecture-improvement skill is a survey that identifies candidates but does not refactor a legacy codebase for you.
