Overview

Warp is an agentic development environment that evolved from the terminal. It provides Warp Factories, an open platform for building cloud software factories: fleets of agents wired to the SDLC and defined in code. Teams can automate work across tasks such as triage, implementation, review, and incident response, with evals, benchmarks, and self-improvement built in.

Key Features

  • Warp Factories as code in factory.yaml, defining repositories, agents, models, permissions, checkpoints, and triggers.
  • Works with any MCP-capable coding agent and any model or harness, including Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI.
  • Provides API, CLI, SDK, and MCP interfaces for running agents and integrating with workflows.
  • Includes built-in evals, benchmarks, quality loops, and self-improvement that scores runs and can open PRs against the factory config.
  • Offers a governance and control plane for centrally configured agent access, permissions, and cost per PR visibility.
  • Includes Warp Terminal and Warp Agent CLI for agentic coding in the terminal and any terminal.

Use Cases

  • Code review: first-pass review on every PR.
  • Bug investigation: reproduce bugs and route fixes.
  • Refactors and migration: scope, migrate, and validate changes.
  • Incident response: investigate alerts and summarize next steps.

Getting Started

  • Download Warp terminal and read the docs for platform-specific instructions.
  • Request early access to Warp Factories.
  • To build and run Warp from source, run ./script/bootstrap, ./script/run, and ./script/presubmit.

Before You Adopt

  • License: AGPL-3.0. Review its terms before using, modifying, or distributing the project.
  • Warp Factories are in closed early access, with usage credits available to qualifying organizations.
  • Warp Factories use usage-based pricing charged per agent run.
  • Customers can choose where data lives, including a self-hosted VPC under existing retention and compliance rules.
  • The new agentic management workflows are powered by GPT models, and OpenAI is the founding sponsor of the open-source Warp repository.
